Buy aid Finland Oy donated 100 000 euro
Every year in Finland about 150 children get sick with cancer and about 75-80 % of them get well. After heavy cancer treatments, various kind of support is often needed so that the child or young person is able to live as good life as possible.
- “It is a huge shock for whole family when one of their children gets sick with cancer. Then everyday life of the whole family changes, and during the long-term cure process the resources of the family are put to the test”, says Anne Haartemo from Sylva ry. The national association founded by cancer children’s parents, Sylva ry, helps cancer children and young people and their families in many different ways.
Sylva organizes e.g. rehabilitation, peer support and subsidized vacations and train the support persons for cancer children.
- In order for us to continue the active work for the Finnish cancer sick children, it is important to have cooperation with companies who operate in accordance with social responsibility and ethical principles, says Anne Haartemo.
Aila Paloniemi from Sylva says that small associations like Sylva ry are not able to succeed without the valuable support of companies and volunteers. So she is very thankful for this donated amount from buy aid Finland Oy. Aila Paloniemi is the Chairman of Sylva Board and Member of Finnish Parliament.

The cooperation between Sylva ry and buy aid Finland Oy started in August 2007 and is still going on.
